Let’s be real—if you sound like a robot, a script reader, or worse… a telemarketer, they’re going to shut you down immediately.

And why wouldn’t they? No one wants to feel sold to.

But here’s the good news: Persuasion doesn’t start with pushing. It starts with connection.


Why Liking Comes First

Before someone will follow your advice, agree to a meeting, or sign a contract with you, they have to like you. That’s the root of persuasion.

When someone sees you as a stranger or salesy outsider, their brain goes into defense mode. But if you sound like someone they already know—someone they’d have coffee with—then their walls come down.

That’s why the way you speak matters just as much as what you say.


How to Build Instant Rapport

Want to build trust fast? Master the art of mirroring.

I’m talking about:

  • Matching tone

  • Matching speed

  • Matching inflection

  • And if you’re face-to-face? Matching body language

This isn’t manipulation—it’s human connection. We naturally like people who feel familiar to us.

So when you adjust your energy to match theirs, you stop being the pushy agent and start becoming the trusted guide.


Scripts? Yes. But With Style.

You still need to know what to say. But here’s the thing: the best script in the world won’t help if you deliver it like a cold call center rep.

You need to bring energy, awareness, and presence to every conversation.

Pro tip: When I’m lead generating, I don’t even sit down. Standing opens up your lungs, improves your energy, and helps your voice resonate with confidence. Try it. You’ll feel—and sound—completely different.


Train Your Ears First

Here’s a quick challenge: Next time you're on a call, close your eyes. Focus only on the voice on the other end.

  • What’s their rhythm?

  • Do they speak fast or slow?

  • Are they tense or relaxed?

  • What specific words or phrases are they repeating?

Now mirror that energy back. That’s how you build connection at the subconscious level—and that’s how you get past “no” and into a real conversation.


Final Thought

Remember, people don’t reject you—they reject how you make them feel. And if you sound like a stranger, their gut will say “danger.”

But when you speak like a friend? You’ve already won half the battle.
