There’s just a small little tweak—one change—and your life transforms.”

Episode Summary

How one small mindset shift can unlock major breakthroughs in your real estate career.

Welcome to another No Broke Months blog—Dan Rochon here, and today I want to talk about something simple... but powerful.

That’s not just a throwaway line. I believe it down to my core because I’ve seen it happen over and over again—with myself, with the agents I coach, and probably with someone reading this right now.

Let me walk you through it.

That One Choice

Last week, I invited a new agent to sit in on one of our trainings. She said she would, then didn’t show up—and ended up joining another brokerage.

Now look, I’m not mad at her for making that decision. But it did sting. Not because I wanted her for my team—but because I knew, with every ounce of my being, that she just walked away from the kind of support that could have changed her career. And I also know the brokerage she joined. I know what they’re going to do for her—nothing. I’ve seen it before. She’s going to struggle, and it sucks to watch.

But I’ve also come to terms with something else: maybe she wasn’t ready. Maybe the support we offer only matters to the ones who are willing to show up and take that one small step to see what’s possible.

And that leads me to you.

Rules, Goals, and the Real Work

I talk about rules and goals a lot—not because I love structure, but because I’ve learned that structure is what unlocks growth.

Most agents don’t fail because they’re lazy or unskilled. They fail because they don’t believe in what’s possible for them. They don’t even know what to shoot for.

That’s why I see my role as a leader and a coach not just to show people how to succeed, but to show them why. The “how” is important. But without the “why,” none of it sticks. You don’t take the steps. You don’t show up for the training. You don’t reach your goals.

You don’t even set real goals—just wishes dressed up with deadlines.

Seeing What Others Can’t

One of the hardest parts of leadership is seeing something in someone else—a gift, a gap, a blind spot—and trying to pull it out into the light. And most people won’t move until they understand why that blind spot matters.

So I go deep into the “why.” Why do you do what you do? Why does this business matter to you? Why are you showing up today?

Because once you connect those dots, the rest starts to fall into place. You start setting real goals. You build real confidence. And you start to see what I already see in you.

A tweak. A shift. One change—and your life transforms.
